Quilt of Valor

1 Attachment(s)
I just finished the top of a Quilt of Valor. I am pleased with it. I wasn't sure I was going to like this one, but it has turned out okay.

I already made a Trip around the World as a QOV and have a Just Take Five pattern that will be a QOV next.

So I have been doing lots of red, white, and blue. :)

Thanks for looking. Oh, would you bind this in the blue of the outer border or in red? That is my next decision...

Very nice! I would bind in the blue.

I think either would be OK on this good quilt, but my preference would be the red.

Beautiful, I would use the blue. I made 4 or 5 last year to donate to a local food pantry. They gave them out at Christmas time.

I meant to post this in pictures. Sorry, everyone. I still would like your vote on the binding...:)

This is a very nice QOV. Personally, I would use the blue for binding.

Very nice quilt! And nice of you to do this. I would go with the blue binding.

bakermom 03-21-2016 02:40 PM

I like the blue!

coopah 03-21-2016 03:49 PM

Very nice work! It's going to be loved. I'd use red for the binding to give it a pop.

krafty14 03-21-2016 07:14 PM

I would bind it in blue with a thin red flange. Ann

I would use the blue. Very pretty quilt.

I agree with most of the QB members-bind in blue would be nice.

You just keep doing such a great job with your fabric and pattern choices. Your borders are so perfect and they lay very flat. I hope that newbies will look carefully and see how perfect border can be done. :)

Thanks, everyone. I think I will go with blue. (I have cut out red too, just in case I change my mind. If the red doesn't work for this quilt, it probably will for the next one. :) )

very nice--I vote for blue.

WisWis 03-23-2016 02:47 AM

It's lovely-I would bind in the blue.

Either color would be great. I think I would do red to really make it pop. Hanks for doing such a worthwhile project to honor those who give their service to keep our country free

Karamarie 03-23-2016 03:58 AM

I would bind in the same color as the blue outer border.

omacookie 03-23-2016 04:02 AM

Try a red and white strip cut on the bias. It will POP all the colors.

bljackson58 03-23-2016 06:09 AM

I personally love stripes for a binding or a small print. I would go Navy and White, or a Navy, red and white print like the waving flags that you used in the quilt, bottom right, third block up on the outer right edge. JMHO

Dina, would you please give me the name of this pattern. Thanks

Sure! It is a Double Slice Layer Cake from Missouri Star. I usually cut my own fabric to make my own layer cake. In this case, I bought a layer cake of a patriotic fabric fabrics....though it might have been called a half layer cake. It had 20 fabric pieces instead of 40. I only needed 10 more to make it the size I wanted, so I used plain red, white, and blue to finish it up.

I always choose red! :) Either will be a great finish to a wonderful quilt.

Sewfine 03-23-2016 12:04 PM

That's very nice. Love those red, white and blues.

kat13 03-23-2016 12:22 PM

Red! Very nice quilt!

ccthomas 03-23-2016 04:03 PM

Nice Quilt of Valor.

Jeanette Frantz 03-23-2016 07:29 PM

I agree with coopah, I think the red would make it pop!

Very nice. I agree with Krafty14. I would bind in blue with a red flange. I really like that look & have used it in several quilts over the years
