No. Synthrapol is sold in many quilt shops now and is also available online from places such as Dharma Trading and ProChem. Amazon has it now too.

i always get the synthropol and the retayne here, but amazon is probably cheaper now.

I wash mine with regular laundry soap and they have come out perfect..maybe ive just been lucky.

I've been using Orvis for years on all my delicates. I don't have a front load washer so I go to my son's house and wash my quilts there. Fair payment since he gets a lot of the quilts.

Excellent question! I have a front loader, also, but there have been times I've missed having a top loader because it spins things drier when there's a light load.

I swear by the dye catcher sheets!! Actually, mine are cloth (sorry, don't remember the brand) that can be used up to thirty times. I've used one five times now and it still works.

Exactly!!!! These are to be used, right? Whoever gets them are not going to go out and buy special stuff to wash them. Special quilts you do for show, fine, give them special treatment. But everyday quilts? Naw!! Into the washer with towels, etc.

I also use Amway, (no "fillers"), and front load HE. We picked up an oversize dryer when one of the dorms was being demolished at the U. where my DH works. The larger drum is nice for the bigger quilts.
