My Uncle is getting remarried in August and we were invited to the wedding. I feel stupid giving him money, so I figured I would make them a quilt. I was going to do something in browns, I think, but need ideas on a pattern. Help! :?

Log cabins, split rails, Warm Wishes are some that go together quickly. Do you know what colors they like?

My first thought was log cabin. They go together so fast and easy, and there are so many different ways you can arrange the blocks.

I was thinking a log cabin, but I have done that for weddings before, so I was thinking of doing something else.

Warm wishes would be great and easy, but looks awesome. you could use a focal fabric , something that he is interested in or a hobby . and maybe pick their favorite colors or a wedding color.....3 solid colors that frame the focal block. I keep looking for another reason to make another one. they turn out great. Elaine

We're going to four weddings this year, so after spending *way* too long on the first throw-sized quilt that was all HSTs, I did a D9P for the second wedding, and I'm doing a Rail Fence for the third. Dunno about the 4th yet :) D9Ps are fast and look good in more "modern" and "masculine" fabrics, too.

I like this fabric that I found on thousands of bolts. It isn't too "girly". It would be a good focal point for the warm wishes. What do you think?

Cheers,
Maybe you might want to do something that everyone attending the wedding signs. Quilterscache has a 6" paper pieced autograph block. I have done 2 of these for wedding, using ideas and what I know about people getting married. Son was one of those and I used old fabric from his jams and hawaiian shirts. Just an idea maybe a bit quicker than a whole quilt. hugs :-) |

There is download partway down the page. I am doing this one for my kid's wedding. The blocks are signature blocks and would look good with gold pen on the browns. It is fun and quick. Maybe you'll like it. |
I like to do log cabin quilts for weddings because of the meaning.
The dark side signifies the bad times or hard times, the light side signifies the good times and a red square in the middle signifies home and hearth. The idea is the if your family and those you love are the center of your life you can make it through the good times and the bad together. Lynette |
