DH took me down to a lovely quilt shop in Freeport, ME to their annual yard sale. Quilters from all over bring their stash and sell it for very little money. Their quilting books were selling for only $1, patterns for 10 cents and yardage for $2 per yard, even less for fat quarters in bulk. So many choices, so little time and money. I did pick up a nice amount of "goods" but had to hurry through because DH works for FEMA and is on call to go out for the hurricane. We're awaiting Irene's arrival here in Maine tomorrow. I hope everyone affected by the storm is ok.

Roberta, I love your avatar - is that all one dog, and what kind is it?

Oh, my word, I wish I'd known about it! I live 30 minutes from Freeport. What shop was it?

I love, love Cottonweeds. I wish I could have gone but we were packing up our family cottage before the storm hit and getting home yesterday. If you sign up for their newsletter, you get emails when they have special events like this. They cosponsor a retreat in the spring, as well. I haven't been able to go yet since it's the same weekend as my guild's retreat. I've taken a class there too. They have a very comfortable classroom space.
Oh, man, I'll have to try to get there at some point!

Mostly I bought the books at $1 each. I mean, how could I pass them up.

One Block Wonders by Maxine Rosenthal
Very Easy Does it Quilts by Georgia Bonesteel
Marsha McCloskey's Block Party

The selling price on these was only 25 cents each; Nature's Christmas by Debbie Mumm
Seasonal Samples by Debbie Mumm
Frosty Folks by Debbie Mumm

For 10 cents per pattern I bought:

Down on the Farm Christmas
All Tangled Up
First Snow by Bears Paw Designs
Country Threads Snowman #412
Bareroots #42 Christmastime Wall Hanging.

I bought three fat quarters, beautiful material by Hoffman for $2
An adorable Christmas Panel for $1 along with one yard of a floral Christmas fabric and some nice white fabric, over 2 yards total for $1

So now I can finally say SCORE. Anyone in the southern or central Maine area really should try and catch this sale next year. It's held in back of the Cotton Weeds quilt shop right on Route 1 in Freeport. "In the back of" as in the parking lot in back of. I can just imagine what I missed out on buying before I got there. Oh and least he not be forgotten, I bought my DH one of those foam squares that you cut the fabric and stick down into it with a special tool. That sells for close to $30 in catalogs, I picked it up for $1 and he's happy.
