I hope this is not a silly question but what is quilt as you go?
I have been hearing about it but have no idea what it is.

"Quilt As You Go" is a method of creating a quilt. You create each individual block, sandwich and quilt the individual block, then sew the individual quilted blocks together to form a finished quilt. The method has the advantage of quilting the smaller individual blocks, instead of an entire quilt in one's normal sewing machine.

I see but how does the back of the quilt look?

Think of doing strips. You lay down your backing, you lay down your batting, and then you sew across one strip at a time. When you reach the other end say of a table running, your all done except for your binding.

Your backing looks like you did stitch in the ditch.

Georgia Bonesteel is the master of this technique. The local library will probably have several of her quilt books. They are classics.

If you do a search of Quilt As You Go, QAYG, you will get many different types of techniques for this. Some are done with single blocks, strips of blocks or sections (like in quarters). :D:D:D

Yes I have been searching and you are right there are many different techniqes. Have you ever done a quilt using this method

Georgia Bonesteel has some good books out there on the technique. She started it as Lap Quilting.
