As you all know I am so new to quilting (1 month), so I have lots and lots of questions. :roll:

What exactly is quilt as you go? Can you actually quilt an entire block before you sew it to another?

I am making rag quilts for my GK to hone my non existenmt skills and I am sewing an X in each block before I sew it together. Is that an example of quilt as you go? I am so easily confused! :shock:

That is a good example of QAG. If go to the search and type in QAG or quilt as you go there will be several examples to look at, I also think there is a link on one of them with great instructions for the QAG.

Yes, QAYG can be as simple as that, to using more complex blocks and techniques to sew them all together :D:D:D

I have been reading up on QAYG for years and my favorite method (to try-I haven't actually done one yet) is the Fun and Done method. The only drawback is that you're forced to have "sashing" and not only that but it has to be the same as the backing. However, you can work that into the design and to me, it looks easiest of all the QAYG methods.

No. It is not quilt as u go is when u quilt with batting each square or row u can go on u tube and see how it's fine. Haven't had a chance to do it my self but hope to one day. Same with. 10 min square! So little time so much to quilt!!
