Help please....I'm making a dresden plate and going to try my hand at quilt as you go with it....I'm going into this blind too cause I have never done this before. I am putting my plates on a 12" background block. Does anyone have any tutorials to recommend that I could see and hopefully make this quilt useable...thank you

I would be interested too. I made a strip block to try it out and it worked well, but not anything as complicated as a dresden

Missouri Star Quilting has a tute on this, maybe you could look at this?

This sounds like an interesting idea. Hopefully someone will have answers.

Quilt in a Day (Eleanor Burns) used to have a tutorial also. http://www.quiltinaday.com

I watched a QAYG demo on Sun Bonnet Sues. They layered the backing, batting and block for each square and then used the actual applique stitching as the quilting. I would assume you could do the same thing with a Dresden Plate.

I don't think it matters whether the blocks are pieced or appliqued, as long as the block is quilted some way before adding on the sashing or turning back the backing and back ground fabric. (depending on what method you are using) :D:D:D |
