QuiltCon Registration?
Hi, Everyone!
I registered this morning for QuiltCon 2016 in Pasadena! Did anyone else? This will be my first time at QuiltCon and...okay...first time ever at a quilting "event" that did not consist of me, alone in my living room, Netflix playing in the background, and a slew of quilt books opened up to random pages. (Yes. I'm excited. Can you tell?) I signed up for Bill Kerr's Solids Marathon from 9-9 on the Saturday of the conference. It was actually my fifth choice because all two of Gwen Marston's classes and Jacquie Gering's class on utilizing space filled up so fast (Note: I began my registration at exactly the start time, 9AM CST, and finished seven minutes later--I don't know who got into Marston's classes, but y'all are SPEEDY). It's not really fair to say that Bill Kerr's class was my fifth choice--the class was equally as exciting to me as the other ones on my list--it's just the timing makes it a little inconvenient (I'd been planning to leave that Saturday night). Bill Kerr and Weeks Ringle are two teachers on my "bucket" list. Oh, and how could I forget: I also signed up for a three-hour workshop on bindings called The Big Finish with Shea Henderson (lately, I've been so incapacitated by bindings that I've come very, very close to convincing myself that leaving my quilts unbound will start a new avant-garde trend...). Would love to hear from other people who are attending QuiltCon (I know...I know...it's far away) or who have attended in the past. Any tips, thoughts, anecdotes? Best, Aso |
Sorry, never heard of it. I don't get out much since there isn't a LQS anymore that I can reach by bus. Hope you have a nice stay in Pasadena, CA. That is a neat town with many interesting locations such as the Pasadena Playhouse. If you are driving, watch out for the LA traffic.

I have not heard of this but I am half way across the states. I did have a class with Gwen quite a few years ago. Great speaker and teacher. Sorry you missed out on this one

I think when the registration starts there are only a few spots left for some classes as pre registration takes most of the spots. If there is a membership then members should have the chance to pre register but if it is open then having pre registration is a tacky way to get the class filled.

Not endorsing or anything, but thought I'd add a link to QuiltCon for those who haven't heard of it and might be interested: http://quiltconwest.com
And, yep, yesterday was pre-registration for MQG members. :) |
