QuiltCut2 Fabric Cutter

Do any of you own or use this? Does it work or is it worth the money? I saw one for the first time yesterday at a quilt show and started to buy one. BUT since I am a gadget-queen both in the sewing room and the kitchen...I was afraid it would be another gadget that I'd try to give to someone else or set in my house taking up space.

Any recommendations about this product?

TIA,
Dray

My friend has one and loves it. I've used hers. I was tempted to buy one myself but talked myself out of it due to space. But I do like it. If you have cutting issues, definitely worth it in my opinion.

They are great, but they do take up a lot of table space. I like it, but I sold it so that I could buy the go cutter, I like the go better, but it is expensive.

i have the altos quiltcut 2 cutter. i bought it used from another quilter. i LOVE it. mine came with the carry case they sell, so when i'm not using it, it lives in the case behind the futon in my office/sewing room. it was money well spent.

I bought one before the Go was available. To use it to cut squares, diamonds etc, it has to be open on a table that is open at least on three sides. You still have to line up the fabric the same as you do using a ruler. You have to not touch the fabric once cut if you want to cut shapes, you need to move the ruler arm, that's why you need lots of room around the cutting table. The cutting is limited to a smaller space then the mat. It is quality made and the customer service is excellent. I keep mine out on a table and use it mostly to cut fabric to size to use on the Go.

I love mine and could not quilt without it.

I love mine and bought my mom one too. It is so much easier to cut strips and pieces. With my OA, RA and shoulder issues, it is about the only way that I can cut straight without help. I made a case for mine (and I saved the $70) and it stores between the cabinet and wall in my closet.

I have thought about the cutters too, but I really hate to invest that much money in dies that I may only us once, if at all. I have complete freedom to cut what I want and how I want to cut it. And it is FAB-U-LOUS for cutting pieces for kaleidoscope quilts. And I love kalei quilts. I'm working on one now.

They do show up on eBay fairly regularly. I have a saved search so that when one comes on line I can see it too. If it is the right price, I might buy another.

I have had mine for many years. Even finally replaced the cutting mat because I used it so much. I got some ripstop nylon from Joann's and made a sorta case as I store it on the floor under my TV/stereo cabinet in the living room. With the black cover/case no one knows it is there as it matches the wood.

There is a good video and other 'stuff' about it at: www.quiltcut.com

I love mine, I was having a hard time matching points and seams.

Thanks for the feedback. I wish I had bought it now.:( My family is going to do a reunion in Galveston (actually Crystal Bch) this year and after I get my part paid for, I think I'll treat myself to QuiltCutter2.

Again...thanks for the comments.
