I was wondering if anyone has ever made a 1950's style quilted skirt, circle preferably, or knows how to get a pattern?
I'd love to make on but am not sure how I would start.
I see them on auction sites occasionally, but they all have tiny waists

my daughter bought a pattern for a poodle skirt at Joannes, that would probably be about the same.

Thanks! I am in the UK, so we don't have that store, but I was wondering whether I can just use a simple circle skirt pattern.
I'm just not sure whether I need a larger size to account for the thickness in the waistband, whether I seW the skirt then quilt or quilt first, and how to hem it? Like binding? I don't want it to look like I am actually wearing a quilt.

I would suggest hemming by placing right sides together and sewing hem edge with a 1/4 inch seam, and turning right side back out, attaching waist band next. I also suggest using something very light if you use batting. I once made a quilted long skirt, just used backing and it was very heavy.

Thank you for the tips, will try that.
