Hi!

I seem to be posting a lot of topics today. Guess I'm just curious ;)

I want to make some potato bags. Is it really important to use 100% cotton batting, or can I use polyester? I've heard Polyester will withstand higher heat, but people say to use cotton??

I know a lady that makes potholders, has done so for 30 years, uses them herself, and uses the poly batting.

Help please!!

You MUST use cotton. The non-cotton will catch on fire. Also, be sure it has no scrim on the edge. There is a batting specifically made for these, called Warm Something. Warm Tater? This has no scrim on the edge.

Polyester will melt and also give off toxic fumes etc. to the food:<

I would only use the new potato bag batting.

also use 100% cotton thread.
