gals, I need some help here. I was on a quilting highway a for quite a few months (almost a year) and was finishing things and really happy with the results. but about a week ago, after I rushed a quilt to get it done, I have no urge whatsoever to sit in front of my sewing machine. I have a few christmas projects that need to be done, and all I've managed to do over the past week is cut a few peices of material for my brother's quilt that doesn't need to be done for another 3 years when he graduates. I haven't even found the urge to reply to topics here.

I want to get back into quilting because it makes me so happy, but since I've started my new job at a thrift store (sorting things in the back) and school this week, I feel drained and don't know what to do. I'm sure someone has gone through this and can give me some advice. I can't even bring myself to cut any material so I'm not sure if starting small is gonna work

Sometimes a break is just what you need.

With a new job and school, you are probably exhausted. I'm guessing that once you adjust to your new schedule and find the way to get adequate rest, your quilting ambition will return. Sometimes a short respite renews the energy! Good luck!

Sounds like you could use a break. You won't enjoy it if you push yourself. Give yourself a little time off to let things settle down.

Give your body time to adjust to your new schedule. In a few weeks, you'll be good to go.

There are seasons for everything. This may just not be your season to quilt. The time will come again :)

It's true. Sometimes a break is needed, even though you don't see it. Don't fret though, when you least expect it, something will call to you. You will sew with a renewed vigor. It will be therapeutic and you will make time for it.

Good luck with school!

So while you are waiting for the seasons to change, should you still expose yourself to this board continue to pick up fabrics you like?

Sounds like you have a lot on your plate right now. Like others have said it's ok to take a break and one the occasion that you may want to work on one of your projects they will be waiting, no rush, no stress. Only when you feel like it will it be fun.
