I know many of us here have used patterns from Marcia Hohn's site over the years. And if we haven't actually made a block or quilt from it, we have gotten inspired by looking at the patterns. Anyway, I'll be making a donation to help keep this site online. Just thought I'd share this.

Thanks for posting this!! I really love this site. And she's right, if everyone who looked at her site during the last year gave her $1, she wouldn't have any money problems. And it seems she really needs some support as she is getting divorced and doesn't have a "real" job....

Bevanger 08-13-2009 05:42 AM

I didn't know this. How scary for her. Thanks for the heads up. I will definitly help out.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I just sent a donation. I don't like to use paypal, too many horror stories out there. There is another link on her website for sending checks. Here is the snailmail address:

Marcia's site is so wonderful and I am so sorry to hear about the "big" changes to her life. We should all help out---her site is wonderful!

Oh good THANK YOU.. I'm not real big on Paypal either

I had sent a donation prior to her telling of her plight. Glad I did. Where would we all be without her site and ALL the great patterns she has provided over the years. By the way, I have always kind of set aside the month of July to donate to those sites I frequent. I have it marked on my calendar so I won't forget. A few prayers sent her way won't hurt either.

Shemjo 08-13-2009 06:50 AM

Thanks for the heads up! I use the site often and my avatar is one of her patterns.!

littlehud 08-13-2009 06:33 PM

I feel so bad for her. Divorce is hard no matter what.

Nancy in Louisiana 08-16-2009 10:12 AM

Thank you for the heads-up. I will send her an "encouragement/thinking of you" card with a donation out today.

ljsunflower 08-16-2009 10:50 AM

That's a great idea! I always like getting cards & I'll be sending her one tomorrow too.

Teacup 08-16-2009 02:27 PM

Thank you for the heads-up on this. I do not read every issue of her newsletter -- I would have missed this otherwise. She could make a living off the Web site if those of us who use it would support it financially. Time for me to step up to the plate.

BellaBoo 08-16-2009 02:52 PM

If you order anything from any shop that sponsors her, order from the link on her website. That gives her more revenue!

amma 08-16-2009 06:54 PM

Good point Bellaboo!!! I will have to check out those links when I go to make a donation  :D

I haven't used PayPal. What are the problems? Don't you have to use it on Ebay?

ljsunflower 08-16-2009 08:33 PM

Hey Joanne. No, you don't have to use paypal on eBay. You can use it to pay for anything as long as the person you're buying from has a paypal account. easy too.

There is a website devoted to the "evils" of paypal. www.paypalsucks.com

Yes, many ebay sellers insist on paypal but many don't. When ebay first started it was entirely between buyer and seller to work out payment terms. I have sent a check and the seller sends me the merchandise. I will never use paypal.

SharonC 08-17-2009 07:35 AM

Thanks for the heads up...a card and donation will be in the mail today. Her site is fantastic and it seems we all have found our way to it, whether through this site or on our own.

That's odd I was just on it yesterday. Maybe I messed up with the hyperlink. If you google "paypal horror stories" you will get hits for at least 3 different websites devoted to how paypal has really put the screws to numerous people. The overall gyst is they are fine UNTIL you have a problem. Once you have a problem it is like moving heaven and earth to get it resolved. I just assume not take the chance. Here is another site I found
