Recently there has been a lot of talk about Fons and Porter and if they are still together. I just got an invite by mail to become a charter member of Quilters Club Of America. You get all so of discounts and stuff but most important is that you get all the best quilting shows on QNNtv.com. Fons and Porter are the co-presidents so maybe they are dividing their time since there is probably a contract on their regular show. I am going to join.

This was started about 3 years ago, I signed up for the first year and then let my membership lapse. There is a lot of good info there and videos, but I could find just as much for free online

Liz has retired, and you only see her on the old advertising...

They still have their PBS quilting show, but Liz has retired and it is just Marianne and her daughter on it now :D:D:D

This club may have been around for awhile but I have never heard of it before. If I can get over 700.00 in fabric and coupons plus the magazines that is. More than worth the 25.00 a year. I for one have never see any of Patrick Loses shows and since he. Has a new one every month that's worth the price. Plus a lot of the coupons and discounts are at Jo Anns and from reading the board I know that there are a lot of quilters who shop there because they have no local LQS and because they like the fabric. Porter may be retired, I don't know, but she is still on the board and has a say on their joint ventures. I can even get discounts on sewing machines and sergers. Please dony rain on my excitement cause I don't get a lot of good.

I didn't renew...with dial/up it just wasn't worth it, couldn't get any of the freebees

SWChick 04-04-2011 08:15 AM

Sorry I posted. I am joining anyway with the cost of fabric I can use all the discounts I can get. I have fast internet and I like their mags. I will save money on those alone

I joined this about 5 months ago. I joined solely because I was unable to find Easy Quilts magazine anywhere else. You receive 4 issues a year. To me, being able to get QNNtv.com, Easy Quilts Magazine, coupon link for discounts for signing up, so many things I've used over and over again. I think it's a good deal.

Don't be upset - everyone likes different things. :)

I had let my membership lapse, but I recently joined again because one of my quilting heroes (Irena Bluhm) did a show for Quilt It!, which is on QNNtv.

I like all the videos and the access to the digital version of Easy Quilts - and the 10% discount on all Joann purchases pays the membership cost a couple of times a year.

On the down side, the web site is poorly organized and frustrating to navigate - it's so clunky and labyrinthine, I don't even try to access some pages.

But, once you figure out how to find the pages that interest you, there is a huge amount of instruction and patterns on the site.

Yes I got my charter membership letter as well. Don't let it fool you. I'm going to spend my dollars somewhere else.

This is how I felt as well. I just received the mailer last week and it looked too good to be true so I figured it probably was and took a pass on it.

I just joined and love it!

I didn't renew mine. I never found much in the easy quilt magazines, and I never watched the videos. The free patterns are mostly ones that are available on fabric company sites and I have enough 'free' patterns anyway to last me 2 or 3 lifetimes. The message board is a horrible format (but you don't have to be a paying member to use it) and the discounts were not really worth it to me.

I took a pass, also..........I'll spend my pennies elsewhere &
there is always the library in addition to this site & the rest of the net to find things that you love !
Happy Monday Ladies & Gents !

I had seen this advertised last year, but decided not to join as I remember it being rather expensive.

It's down to $25 now? I'm not surprised. I have been letting some of my magazine subscriptions lapse, because I have narrowed it down to 3 of my favorites to keep. I don't think I'll be joining this club....I barely have time to read the magazines I get now.

I had joined it and have let it laspe too. It is very difficult to navigate and the Tips DVD is nothing different than what is on the show. Plus each year you re-join you get the same DVD, not worth it. The patterns I got were of no use to me at all, and I recieved a free applique from Keepsake of a Teddy Bear which I used on a baby quilt. Exactly the same bear, the next year, Only thing that I enjoyed was the Easy Quilts. Keeping my money here and buying locally.

I too joined a while ago but only for 1 year. Cutting back on lots of stuff and this one one. JAs has so many coupons now decided NOT to rejoin.

thepolyparrot 04-06-2011 10:59 AM

I guess I've been lucky - the three DVD's I've gotten with my memberships have all been different. :)
