Quilters dream orient
 

I just got a queen size batting quilters dream orient on the pkg. it states luxurious blended batting of silk, bamboo, tencel, and soft stable cotton stitching may be up to 8" apart finished quilt may be gently machine washed and dried with cool dryer. No resins, scrim, or binders. Has anyone used this on la and if so how did it preform?

I used it. I combined it with wool for 2 batts. It drapes nicely and is very light.

I used this for my Hunter's Star. Asked my LA friend before having the quilt done & she said it is very nice to use.

I love using it! Very nice drape, needles nicely, great definition of quilting stitches. Lightweight but nice loft. A very nice batting. :)

I'm probably going to be the odd one out on this one. I used it in one quilt recently and found it pills so badly, I went thru nearly a whole lint roller as I was constantly having to stop quilting and remove the pills. I was using rulers with HandiGrip and I'm sure that's what was causing the pilling . . .but I use rulers with nearly all my quilts and this is the only batting that's done this.

I also find it somewhat lightweight, but warmer than my Hobbs 80/20 cotton/wool batting. If warmth is what you're going for, this is a good one.

I use nothing else since I found it! I've never had any kind of problem. When layering, I put it on the backing, smooth a bit then pat it down rather than it pull tight. I have tied it about 4-5" apart and quilted the same or even to 6". It has a wonderful drape and for me, just the right loft. ctrysass2012, I just finished a Hunters Star with it, too!

Oh, and nice to quilt with machine and by hand.

I'm another in the 'not a fan' camp. I find it can both pill and beard at the seams and it does not wear well if not fairly tightly quilted and will migrate. I used it on a quilt I made for one of my nieces who is a restless sleeper and even with quilting about 2-2.5" inches apart it has migrated and clumped in the area where her legs are. No other batting has performed this badly. I eventually ripped all the quilting and re-quilted it with Warm and Natural, 8 years later it still looks great and she still loves it.
