Quilter's Tranquilizer

During my shop hop today I stopped at Beyond the Thimble in Seatauket and they were so kind to give me Quilter's Tranquilizer - a bag of m&m candy with a note attached. The note read:

Yellow - Soothes nerves when you want to buy fabric and the shop is closed.
Red - Reduces irritation when you cannot find just the right fabric.
Blue - reduces frustration when your stash is looking little low.
Brown - relieves panic attacks when there is no place to hide more fabric
Orange - Minimizes depression when you cannot get enough time to sew.
Green - cures the urge to clean house when you could be sewing.
Warning: May contribute to weight gain

I had to share this with you because it made me giggle. Such a great idea!

Love it! I knew they were really little pills. You always feel so much better after eating a few.

unfortunately, only Suffolk stores participated in this Shop Hop and they are in Cold Spring Harbour, East Northport, Islip, Sayville, Setautket, and Riverhead. I have never been to any of the stores in Nassau but I know of Quilting Bug in Massapequa, and Gone Sewing in Hicksville. Happy Quilting!

Perfect solution!!

joyce888 07-28-2012 04:56 PM

Chocolate cures everything!

Phannie1 07-28-2012 05:21 PM

We have m & m at all our quilter's workshops. One of our gals has to have them as she sews and keeps us all supplied. Love the color codes. I will have to use them. Thanks,

AuntieD 07-28-2012 05:49 PM

Great idea!!

bjrusty 07-29-2012 04:28 AM

How cute Barb

jnagy1206 07-29-2012 05:28 AM

Very cute idea. May use it for my quilting group. We meet twice monthly for our Sunday Sew Day (11am - 5pm).

laurafet 07-29-2012 12:34 PM

If you only knew how many bags I go through!! I have told my DH they were an antidepressant. Now I have proof!

Cybrarian 07-29-2012 01:02 PM

If there was a kind understanding quilting researcher/chemist out there we would have no calorie M&Ms when used for medicinal purposes. I take a supplement "glucosamaine" the pills are humungous. I found them in Walmart yesterday and the box said "a soft, creamy orange chew", I thought "hallelujah!" Of course the box also said 60 calories each. You have to take 3 each day. I am not using up 180 calories on supplements when they can be used for chocolate. Pass the humungous pills... it's a cold, cruel world people...

calicojoan 07-30-2012 05:11 AM

That's priceless. I have to keep this one for my next retreat. That would be wonderful to attach to a special little give a way for everyone! Thanks so much for sharing!

calicojoan 07-30-2012 05:12 AM

Your too funny!!!! But it's so true!

spunky 07-30-2012 05:15 AM

The shop I worked in gave little bags of M&M's and called them quilters vitamins

Amen, sister! I saw a quote here on the board that said something like "Save the Earth -- it's the only planet with chocolate"!!!

WisWis 07-30-2012 06:53 AM

Love it! I've just read it to my hubby and he thought it was very funny also.

Dix 07-30-2012 06:56 AM

Thanks for this! We have 20 in our quilt group and I am always looking for a cute Christmas gift idea.

MargeD 07-30-2012 07:31 AM

Thanks for sharing, this would make a great stocking stuffer, hostess gifts, etc. I always knew there was a reason to keep them on hand when quilting.

karate lady 07-30-2012 07:43 AM

for me Reese's Pieces solve any problems. hee hee.

diamondee 07-30-2012 09:32 AM

:D I need a lot of brown :D My sewing room keeps shrinking, anyone else have that problem?
A few more blue as I work full time and do not want to go anywhere near the rotary cutter if I'm not going to be paying 100% attention to what I'm doing.

:D I don't have a problem with the green:o

ccthomas 07-30-2012 10:41 AM

Bye! Gone to buy m&ms. Thanks for sharing. There must be some quilting bandits in my home. They keep disappearing,

justflyingin 07-30-2012 10:51 AM

I think it's really cute!

butterflies5518 07-30-2012 11:08 AM

Now I have a reason to keep a stash!

Latrinka 07-30-2012 12:41 PM

Too cute! Just bought a big bag of peanut M & M's the other day, guess where I'm going?! LOL!

Pete 07-30-2012 05:28 PM

LOVE IT! Everyone in my Bee will be getting this come Christmas! Thanks.

krysti 07-30-2012 05:31 PM

I love it! Maybe that's why I keep the party sized (42 oz) in my cupboard at all times. LOL

danece 07-30-2012 08:40 PM

I keep an apothocary jar filled with M & M's on the top of one of my antique sewing machine cabinets, now I will have to create a cross stitch to hang on the wall above it to explain why the jar is always only half full

Raine 07-30-2012 10:32 PM

Darn! The Green is not working for me! I have green carpet in the bedrooms/tile in the kitchen and I still want to clean when I know that I should be sewing. What is wrong with me? And the weight gain comes with cleaning or quilting. Still, got to love life. Thanks for posting.

teddysmom 07-31-2012 02:47 AM

Thanks for sharing this with us. Sales on M & M's should skyrocket after this!

nuevaquilter 07-31-2012 04:32 PM

Hah! I did this shop hop, too, and I loved the Quilter's Tranquilizers! Only trouble is, I could end up having to make a quilt to wear instead of regular clothes!

sewnsewer2 07-31-2012 04:37 PM

LOL, I love it!

jojo47 08-24-2012 04:08 PM

I'm a bit behind in catching up on the board, but had a good chuckle at this one...I'm thinking the mini M&M's would be good, too....just have to nibble more of them! :)
