Good morning!

Is anyone planning on going to the Mountain Quiltfest in Pigeon Forge next month?
Ya'll have a wonderful day!

mickey 02-22-2010 08:35 AM

a couple of friends and i are going on Saturday. Can't wait!
THey have moved the Smoky MOuntain show usually held at PEllissippi college to Maryville College and it will be held March 17-20---are you going to it too?

Shelia 02-22-2010 08:39 AM

My husband and I are going to the Mountain Quiltfest on Friday, the 19th and spending the day. We haven't made plans for the Smoky Mountain show, but it's only a little over and hour away from us, so we might go to that one also.

Someday, I hope to sign up for a class or two at the Mountain Quiltfest. Anybody out there ever taken a class?

Quiltfest is always fun for me! I like that there's not as much traffic there as at some of the bigger shows. And the quilts are wonderful! They've got lots of vendors these days so you can shop till you can't move.
We will be going up on Tuesday & coming home Friday. Got a cabin rented already & am looking forward to it greatly.

Wish I could go, have no money...

ljsunflower, you're going to have a wonderful time! Yes, I'm hoping to do some shopping too! I get so tickled at my husband, he is a big middle-aged man, looks like a bear, but he'll put a glove on and vote for the quilt he likes best!

I meant to say the classes are good too. I took quite a few a couple of years ago. Try them, I think you'll like them too.

You are going to LOVE Pigeon Forge!!! I went through it on my way to Gatlinburg. That is a really pretty area. Bring the camera!!!

QuiltingGrannie 02-22-2010 02:30 PM

I live close enough but will most likely have to work.
For those who are going do bring your cameras and enjoy the area.
A great place for pancakes is in Gatlinburg at the "Pancake House". They start serving at 7 am and by 8 am there is usually a line out the door and by 9 it is down the sidewalk.

Dollywood doesn't open until April. But the Titanic museum may be open I don't remember when they were going to have their grand opening.

That is IF you have time to visit other places that are not quilt related.

Enjoy your visit. I'll be just about 2 hours away!

I plan on being there as I live locally. Most of the Vendors and Quilts will be at the Music Road Hotel, but some of the classes and different Class of quilts will be at the Convention Center at the other end of town.
They usually have a shuttle bus going between the two.

Dollywood opens March 27, and the Titanic is scheduled to open April 8th.

and there are three quilt shops locally--well there might just be two, not sure when exqisite quilting is closing. so sorry that she is. she has some beautiful quilts and fabrics.
but Cherry Pit and Machine Quilting with Iva will be open.

and closer to maryville is Pappy's, and in greenback is mountain quilters quilt shop (Both are off highway 411)

ljsunflower 03-01-2010 09:22 AM

I can say for sure that Pappy's in Maryville is a wonderful quilt shop! They have a LOT of beautiful fabric & the wide quilt backings. Nice folks there too.
I have hunted the Cherry Pit once but couldn't find it. I think she will have a booth at the show so I'll check it out.
