i've pieced and sandwiched the attic windows for my brother's birthday, but i'm not finding too many ideas on how to actually quilt it. i believe since it is a wall hanging, it needs more than just in-the-ditch. for some reason i'm stuck on the idea of quilting 'bubbles' inside the windows, but can't find an example. (and we're calling this one 'glass bottom boat' 'cause no one looks out their window and sees fish!)

anyone care to share how they quilted their attic windows?

I LIKE the idea of "bubbles" in the window...

Then you can title it "Bubbles in the wine...er, window".

OK...I'll go away now. :D As the kids say, "She's crazy, but she's harmless."

mch - My saying is that I am out on day release, if I come across abit 'loco' lol!!!

I love this wall hanging......the fish are fantastic...you could try some free motion embroidery to accentuate the fish, just go with it, add some beads for bubbles and sequins for the fish eyes...Oh now you got me started...my turn to go now.........

you could quilt fish or other sea creatures.

You could outline the fish with quilting. Or, do some echo quilting.

I love the idea of bubbles. Who says you need an example? Just take your choice of quilt marker, and draw circles where you want them. Then free-motion them.

When I made my son's quilt (planes in formation), I quilted wavy lines down the length of the quilt to look like wind over their wings. Then I free motioned some clouds around the edge. I am sure the quality is severly lacking (it was my first attempt at free motion), but I would not change the way I quilted it, even now. I love the finished project.

I would start out with smaller ones down low, then get gradually bigger as you get towards the top. Isn't that the way bubbles do in water? Just my input.

What a cool quilt! But now I have the song "Tiny Bubbles" running through my head! I think bubbles would be clever.
