Rhonda, let me know how you do with this! I have started marking a top with baptist fan pattern, and it is taking me forever! The top is a large twin size....I don't want to wrangle it through my machine with the walking foot, so I hope to FMQ it....if I ever finish marking it! :)

Jan, thanks so much for sharing from your vast experience! You are such a great resource!
Fatquarters, THANK YOU for mentioning the 31 days of walking foot designs. I've not seen this before, lots to explore here. http://blog.petitdesignco.com/2012/1...-quilting.html Also, check out Craftsy quilting class by Jacquie Gering, Creative Quilting with Your Walking Foot. It's an excellent class! I learned a lot. |

I'm thinking about quilting the Baptist Fan pattern with my Domestic Machine. I do not FMQ. (Not good enough yet for a real quilt). Everything I have quilted has been either outlined or Stitched-in-the Ditch or the embroidery feature has been used. Have any of you quilted the Baptist Fan with your domestic machine? And if so, how did you do it and how was the outcome? Thanks for your input!

Fatquarters, another thank you for the link! |
I love the look of it so good luck, I haven't tried it.

I used to be afraid of FMQ and looked for ways to avoid it and yet get some interesting things in my quilts. I drew designs on light weight paper that came on a roll that I got at an office supply store. I pinned it to the quilt and sewed slowly. It took lots of manipulation with keeping the needle down and lifting the presser foot frequently. It worked quite well but was labor intensive. I was determined to learn to do it FMQ-and I did!

Geez I wasn't sure what you were talking about. I had to google it. It looks so cool but it has many directional changes. Would like to see your end result.
