quilting bargello quilt
I have been watching this board for years. and I enjoy all the helpful information.
my question is how would any of you quilt a bargello quilt. I do my quilting by hand. No picture to show. I have few computer skills. there are several narrow rows. should I stitch in ditch colored areas. blacks/greys/aqua blues. any help would be appreciated. |
I like it when the lines of quilting follow the flow of the bargello. If you are hand quilting, quilting across the segments rather then beside the seams should be easier.

I also follow the flow of the Bargello. Here is a closeup:

Like any other quilt, there are many ways to quilt a bargello.
You can follow the flow of the bargello in a few different ways. Below shows loops that follow the color. For my Avatar I plan on making the light areas pop by doing dense pebbling in the darker areas. Others choose to do an all-over design. |

I agree that there are many ways to quilt a Bargello. I stitch in the ditch, mainly because that is my preferred way of quilting. I just like my piecing to be the focus and not the quilting....just me, I am weird that way. I don't stitch in every ditch, because there are too many in a Bargello, and I use Warm and Natural, so I don't need to stitch too close together. So I usually end up stitching every five or six inches.
My quilting really doesn't show, but I will attach a picture so you can see it doesn't show. :) Dina |
Bargellos are so fun, love the way they look once they are complete, I am collecting fabrics to make a wallhanging for my living room, its burgundy, creme, blues and greens, should be pretty once done.

Maniac, I like the way yours DOES follow the flow and really adds to the design!
