I have been a lurker for a long time and really enjoy this board. My grand daughter is learning to quilt. Last summer I was able to send her to a class while she was here for the summer. I would really like to find a book that explains basic quilt techniques with pictures. She calls me quite often with questions and I sometime find it hard to explain it too her over the phone. She is just about 12 yrs old so I would like something really simple. My plan is that I get 2 books one I can send her one for me to keep and I could use the pictures in the book to help explain. Any suggestions would be helpful!

This might be a good choice. I have not seen the quilting version, but the knitting and crocheting versions are excellent.

I have the Better Homes and Gardens book "Complete Guide to Quilting". I love it and have learned alot from it. It has lots of pictures.

When I started quilting, I purchased the Fons and Porter Complete Guide to Quilting. It has become my bible. Has all the goto info needed. I actually used the thing soo much that the binding broke and took it to Staples and had a spiral binding put on it.

I loved the way the book was done. Simplist block first then progresses up in technique levels.
