I just found a wonderful book on the quilts of Gee's Bend for children! It is called "Stitchin' and Pullin': A Gee's Bend Quilt."

Great story of a little girl learning to make her first quilt. The story incorporates much about the civil rights movement also.

Beautiful illustrations by Cozbi Caberera and the text is written by Patricia McKissack, the author of many other quality children's books.

Quote from the book:

"But I am not complete.....
There are hundreds of ideas in my head.
Quilts that are about me,
the place where I live,
and the people who have been here for generations."

I highly recommend this book for a small person in your life, especially one who is learning to quilt with you.
