Quilting with BSR
 

I am in the process of quilting a scrappy xmas quilt that I pieced at the being of 2016. I noticed that bsr 2 works better than bsr 1. I also notice if you try to go slow, the foot peddle does not work very well in bsr1.
I may not have the rythm yet. If I get going I do not want to stop to move my hands. Seems like it sure takes a lot of practice. I am doing a large stipple with paper pattern on about a square and 1/2 at a time. At one point I thought my foot peddle does not work correctly. Do you think it is easier to just use the # 9 foot with the spring and round bottom for the bernina? This FMQ stuff is just not as easy as I would like it to be. Tell me about your experiences please.

I can't speak to the BSR except for the time I test drove it at a Bernina store. But FMQ takes a lot of practice so don't give up.

You don't use the foot pedal when you use the BSR. Just unplug it.

I was told to use BSR1 for slow stitching and BSR2 when going fast. So I've been using #1 because I'm pretty slow!

It really helps to mark your pattern. I use the Crayola Ultra washable markers. They wash out well except the reds.

SewingSuz ... as you have discovered, FMQ is not easy peasy at the start. Stick withi t, and you will find yourself getting more and more comfortable with it, and soon be well on your way. When I don't do any for awhile, it takes me a bit to get my rhythm for it back and get into the zone .... and then I quilt and quilt and quilt!

As for the BSR 1 vs. BSR 2 mode. They each have their strengths. Some people like the #1 more than #2. It really is a personal thing. Personally I have used both, but my preference is #1 and the foot pedal.

BSR1 is "cruise," meaning it will continue to stitch slowly when you stop. This is better for making sharp corner points -- I prefer this one. BSR2 is "precision," meaning that it will stop dead, when you stop.
