I am working on a small candle mat with a celtic knot design. I have attached my bias strips, and now sewing the outside of the bias strips, when do you sew over the the crosses on top?

not quite sure what you have going on...or are asking...as for your bias strips...are those your applique parts of the celtic design? what do you mean sewing crosses on top? are you thinking of the quilting itself? like you are appliquing (with bias strips) a celtic design...then when your (block-candle mat) is all made (applique complete) you would make your sandwich (batting-backing) put it together then quilt it (sew crosses on top??) then add binding around the outside... does that help, or are you trying to do something different and i am mis-understanding?

I know I didn't describe it very clearly. I was wondering when you sewed the top of pieces that are weaved under the bias strip, (under one strip, over the next strip) I've sew all the strips down, stopping at each over and under place. I don't know when you sew down these spots, or do you?

Thanks for replying.
