I am making a quilt for my nephew. He has long been a part of army cadets affiliated with a Scottish regiment in Canada (the same regiment in Scotland that his great grandfather was in during WWI). Colours are dark red, green and blue, with a gold inner border and a black 6" outer border. Not sure how I'm going to quilt it but want to quilt a border that has a Scottish theme - I was thinking thistles. Does anyone know where I can find a pattern? Have found some celtic-style patterns on stencils.com but most of them are not the right size.

Can you take the stencil to a copy store and have it re sized?

Yes, I could do that but the stencils I have found are primarily celtic designs that don't lend themselves to continuous machine quilting; they're more suited for hand quilting. Plus, I really am looking for thistles and haven't found any. Will probably have to find a picture somewhere and draw them.

I will see if I have anything, I really don't think so, but look in free clip art, print out a few, I bet you can make into continuious line. I am just getting started with my short arm.
