The only trouble with putting the machine on the floor are the furbabies. It would be my luck they would decide that's where they wanted to lay. :)

As luck would have I don't have any furbabies! Do have one question though what kind of threas are you using for the embroidery-quilting? Regular embroidery thread on cotton?

here are front and back photos. It does take a bit of practice to hoop all 3 layers and make sure it is centered correctly. I am good at stippling and meandering, but I don't have the free motion technique to do anything as technical as these designs, so it's nice to have a choice . Emblibrary.com has quite a few quilt designs you can try out at super reasonable pricing. They have really nice embroidery designs too!

I quilted my D4P on my embroidery machine, used a quilting design and it looks the same on both sides. The quilting designs designed for the embroidery machines adjust the stitches to resemble quilting. Easier for me than quilting by hand or FMQ

I have 2 embroidery machines, and using the hoop I would only do quilting a block at a time, or maybe a strip [ quilt as you go] With a whole quilt, what does one do with that roll of quilt under the throat area when you get closer to the centre, too much bulk. I would have to do it freehand.
Yes Juanita, you can quilt all three layers together in the hoop, you may have to loosen the tension a bit, do a test block first. You will not need stabiliser. The length of your stitches will be governed by your quilting [embroidery] design, not your machine. That's decided by whoever digitised the design. |
Thank you Gay I'll give it a try

i don't hoop i use sticky and put it on the back of my embroidery hoop then put quilt on that (make sure your quilt can move with the design as it embroiders

Thank you so much for your information. I have the Babylock Elegante 2 and the Monster Snap Hoop and have been tempted to try quilting but never have got brave enough. I'm going to try it now. Embroidery Library has some nice quilting templates. Thanks again.

This is my first time to post. Love this board I learn so much, almost to fast! :)
I've been doing a lot of searching on embroidery machine quilting. Two websites to check out are hoopsisters.com and purpledaisiesllc.com. I just purchased Embroidery Quilting and Trapunto. Havent tried it yet but soon. There is one more but I can't remember what it is right now (CRS) |
