i would to find out how many peom are out there relating to quilting or fabric.
i will start with the one i have and love. 10 GOOD REASON TO BUY FABRIC 1 It insulates the cupboard where it is kept 2 I participating in a contest.... The one who dies with the most fabric wins. 3 I t keeps the economy moving- it is my duty to support cotton farmers, textile mills and fabric shops 4 It is less expensive and more fun then psychiatric care. 5 It keeps without refrigeration, you dont have to cook it to enjoy it, and you never have to feed it, change it, wipe its nose or walk it 6 Because I'm worth it. 7 Like dust.... Its good for protecting previously empty spaces in the house, like ironing boards, the laundry baskets, the spare bed 8 Its not immoral, illegal or fattening. it calms the neves, gratifies the soul and makes me feel good. 9 Because it was on sale. 10 BUY it now, before your husband retires and goes with you on all your shopping expeditions |
My bathroom's full of bottle of pills
they'll cure all kinds of aches and ills This ones for this, that one's for that Got enough pills to fill a hat I don't take them, not anymore Not since I went to the fabric store The colors soothe me, the fabric so grand while at the cutting table I stand I don't need a pill my sanity to keep I don't need a pill to help me sleep With my large stash I can sew at will There's just no time to take a pill written by me, about me, just now |
Addicted to Quilting
She Learned to Quilt on MONDAY. Her stitches all were fine She forgot to make us dinner So we all went out to dine She quilted miniatures on TUESDAY she says they are a must They really were quite lovely But She forgot to dust On WEDNESDAY it was a sampler. She says stippling's fun What Highlights What Shadows! But The LAUNDRY was'nt done Nine Patches were on Thursday Green,Yellow,Blue and red. I guess she really was engrossed She never made the Bed. It was wall hangings on Friday. In colors she adores It never bothered her at all That crumbs were on the floor I found a maid on SATURDAY My week is now complete My wife can quilt the hours away The house will still be neat Well, now its only SUNDAY I think I,m about to wilt I cursed,I raved,I ranted Cause the Maid has learned to QUILT ! |
I found this in a 1985 magazine called "Quilt World - Omni Book". I printed and post it on my wall. Would you believe the magazine was only "$1.75"
BROKEN DISHES Grandmothers Flower Garden Holds a special Wild Rose, All Around The World No other garden knows, An Old Maids Puzzle surely But twas Clays Choice, that I know. Wedding Rings were shining On that blessed Sharon Rose. Now, the Log Cabin lies deserted Broken Dishes on the floor. The Wedding Ring that warmed it Is gone forevermore. A Storm At Sea, Ocean Waves Covered her loved one o'er, And the Wild Rose above er grave Jobs Tears will mist once more. By Jennie Hutton |
Fabric
I try to live each day In such a way That when tomorrow makes today a yesterday I will have woven into the fabric of my life Some gay design, Some patch of color, Bright, to please the eye. So that, in the graying years to come, When all the quick responsive senses dull, I may look back across the patterns of my past And, in my memory, Live the joys and pains Of all my yesterdays.
