Quilting frame

Does anyone have a quilting frame and carriage that you bought from a kit and put together yourself to do machine quilting with your dsm? If so, please let me know if you like it, does it work well, where did you get it and anything else you might want to add. I am thinking of going this route since I have no need to put a lot of money into a longarm. Thanks!

If you do a search on Ken Lund, you will find older threads about this. Here is a link to one:

There are many threads about this subject and you should search for them, as many have great suggestions. I saw this guy (or someone representing him) at the Paducah Quilt show 2 years in a row and I think it looks feasible. If I ever get better I may think of investing in his system.
PS: The DVD on this page impressed me!

Keep your eyes on your local Craigslist! I found a 3 year old Gracie pinnacle with every bell & whistle available to it for 400 bucks. A few weeks before that I found one for a friend, also a grace but not sure which model but it was wood (where mine is metal) but it also came with a Juki mid arm that needed to be serviced. She paid 500 for both and another 80 to have the machine serviced.

My husband made one for me using the pattern for inspiration. very small quilt area but I drew my own pantagraphs and it worked well. I attached a laser pen to the side with a small pipe clamp for my guide. I still lust for a true long arm, but the $$ is just not there.
