Quilting Gloves
 

I wear the popular white quilting gloves. I have put them in the washer and they are still dirty.

How do you wash yours?

I wash mine by hand and it seams they never get as clean as new. they are kind for blkish grey on the tips when dry. I just live with it.

I'm thinking it's not dirt, but rather dye transfer (technical term is "crocking") from the fabrics that are handled.

I don't use gloves anymore.

I now use the purple "The Fabulous Fabric Guide" by www.thegypsyquilter.com. I bought it on sale at a LQS. I takes less pressure from my hands so I can do more than I could with the gloves due to less pain in my fingers/hands..

I must admit I buy gloves from riding stables to rub down horses if I want gloves on. Other than that I have used
Arthritis gloves with finger tips free.
Other days I prefer to use the shelf nonslip liners

I use the fabric mover that comes with the Quilter's Kit by Husqvarna. Less strain than the gloves and I don't feel like I have to take the gloves off every little bit.

My machingers are gray on the fingers after working on a quilt with lots of black fabric. I washed them by hand several times but never got them back to white. I bought two new pairs (as I love them!!) and use the new ones on light color quilts and save the stained ones for darker color quilts.

I buy the machine quilting gloves from Fons and Porter. They are stretchy and less than $5 a pair. Since I wear the medium size which is a dark blue with white "gripper dots" I don't have any problems with dye coming off my quilt to stain my gloves. (I think the small size is red and the large size is gold.) The slightly snug stretchy fit means I don't have to take them off for every little non-quilting thing. I am not affiliated with Fons and Porter, but I really do like these gloves.
