It has taken me a while to get up the will to quilt. I am unemployed for the second time and feeling down. But I decided that quilting would make me feel better and be a good stress reliever for job searching. My machine however, had different plans. I've had it for three years and I guess it's time to go in for a cleaning. First the thread keep making a nest underneathe the fabric. I have changed bobbins, rethreaded the machine. The nesting has stopped but now the bobbin goes up and down then jams! I just needed to vent. The shop where I bought is great and servicing and cleaning. I am going to a friend's house tomorrow to quilt. She has two machines set up to go at anytime, so I can use one of hers. Such is the joy of quilting and creating!

Always good to have a quilting friend to be there for you. Enjoy your quiting time with her.

I have to wonder also if you have the correct bobbin in the machine. Go back to the original bobbin and see if that works. Bobbins can look alike but be manufactured to different specs.

Sometimes it can make a difference between plastic and metal bobbins....Have you cleaned the lint out in your bobbin case...is the thread going the right direction

I know I have the right bobbin because I bought them at the store where I got the machine. I will try tomorrow with it again. Thanks for the suggestions!

Machines are like husbands, sometimes you just have to walk away.

Sometimes thread gets itself buried in the bobbin case or in the tension disks. It takes just a tiny tuff of thread to cause all kinds of problems! Take a look with a flashlight with the bobbin and bobbin case removed. Look at the bobbin case itself too. Occasionally I use unwaxed dental floss and floss the tension disks, just to make sure I clean those out too.

Did you take out bobbin case and clean the machine, sometimes this does the trick

Many times, I have heard that rethreading helps, and it had helped me. Good luck with your machine, It's wonderful that you have a quilting friend nearby! That helps! Hang in there!

Perhaps if you can take your machine to your friends home. With her fresh eyes she may see something you are not....

Perhaps the bobbin just isn't seated correctly? Sometimes just that tiny bit is the problem. Take it out, check for dust bunnies and hidden thread, and then make sure it seats correctly when replacing. Also, make sure to change your needle.

In the meantime, have a GREAT time quilting with your friend.
