There is an article in a british daily paper extolling the virtues of quilting on your health. I am not good on transferring the name of websites, but if you google
DAILY MAIL ONLINE it will come up with the newspaper site, and then in the search box in the top right hand corner, just type in quilting and it should come up with the article. It was research done by the University of Glasgow. Give it a try.

I couldn't find it, sadly. When I went to Daily Mail online, there wasn't a search box! Never mind.

Thanks for the link. I found the article quite interesting. I like how it mentioned math and geometry as part of quilting. :)

There have been similar articles recently in the Daily Telegraph as well. I am pleased as an English quilter that the profile of quilting is being raised in my country - not only as an art form but as therapy too! It certainly keeps me sane - ish! LOL

Thanks for posting the link...I enjoy the quilting inspite of the math.

I have recommended quilting for a life improvement to a number of people and my patchwork class members would definitely agree. Since taking up quilting, over 6 years ago, my health has improved enormously, once a chronic Asthmatic on steroids and other horrible medication I now haven't had to take any for over a year! My asthma was very stress related and quilting cures stress as I am sure you all agree, also it it very good exercise for your eyes  I haven't had to have my glasses changed for 3 years now and I recently saw a eye specialist and agreed that the exercise you give your eyes with something like quilting can really improve your eyesight.

All in all I would say that quilting is definitely good for your health.

It also keeps me out of the bars and off the streets LOL LOL
