Quilting ideas for a new charity blanket I'm making

Hi everyone,
I have a one-speed Janome New Home Thunder. I am making a smaller blanket size, 36x48 inches. The blanket will be in pink and lavender purple zebra batik prints.
My dilemma is for when I'm quilting it after its done. First off, I always machine quilt blankets and through all the layers, so hands sewing is not an option!
I can't deicide whether to make rings (cirlces) or rounded flowers.
What do you think? I haven't started it yet; it's still in the cutting and thought process. Let me know what you think!

Sorry, but my crystal ball is in for it's tune up right now, and I can't visualize what you are doing!

Perhaps if you would show us a photo, we might get a sense of what your quilt will look like.

I will when I start it!

A good site to give you some ideas is Lori Kennedy's Tuesday Tutorials at www.theinboxjaunt.com/

Are you making a quilt?? I am confused..... but don't worry, that is nothing new at least to me. Wish you could have posted a photo of the fabric.

I notice you are new here at the Quilting Board. Welcome! Can I assume you are also a new quilter?

A blanket is usually one layer of fabric.
A QUILT is made with a layer of BATTING between two layers of cotton (usually).

I assume you are making a QUILT, not a blanket, right?

Many people HAND quilt through all three layers, it's done all the time. So is machine quilting.

You can check google images for pictures of "machine quilting" for some design ideas.

Some info on this charity's requirements. They accept all kinds of blankets/quilts for sick children/teens.

If the batik design has a circular design. I would go with the rings. If it is straight lined, I would do a box design or V's. Check that - Zig-zag! Good luck to you. Edie
