Hi I just took my first quilt to get quilted. Is in normal for the long armer to have batting & backing materials there to use. She also ask me if I wanted to bind it my self or her do it. Thanks CAthy A (tumrub)

That is usually included in what they charge you for, besides their quilting time and talent. And some will bind for an extra fee.
|
the often offer backing fabrics to choose from and and almost always have batting for sale

Mine has backing and batting there but you could also bring your own in. She will also bind for you if you want, both front and back or just one.

I can easily get batting if the quilter doesn't provide it. Most of the quilts I've done have had backing provided by the quilter, but I have ordered it on an as-needed basis (my friend lives out of state doesn't have easy access to a quilt shop, so it was easier for me to find an appropriate backing on line and buy it for her). Generally binding is not included in the price of the quilting, but many longarmers will do it for an additional fee.

My LAQ includes the batting in her price, I furnish the backing and I do the binding.

The Long Arm pro's in my area everything is an extra. They do have backings and battings but you will pay extra.
|
a full service LAQ will have lots of things for you to choose to use or not.
