quilting on a longarm

I am going to be quilting a double Irish chain and in the open space I was thinking after it has been quilted in the chain part can I take it off the table and do embroidery has anyone tried this and if so how did it work?/

If you are thinking about hand embroidery, I think the same question was asked earlier today:

If you are thinking about machine embroidery, you could do that, but the back may not be very pretty. Do a test embroidery on a test sandwich first.

I've done it quite successfully. Just be sure to make sure you puddle up and support the body of the quilt well so there is no distortion.
