quilting on longarm

I have a throw size quilt and plan on using fireside fabric for the backing it is a polyester and is like minky it has stresh
I was thinking about using 80/20 batting but I also have a bamboo and cotton any suggestions' would be welcome

Can't offer much help -- I can say that my friend loaded a minky back for a baby quilt and, well life got in the way. After a couple of weeks the fabric was much stretched out and sagged significantly.

I ended up doing the baby quilts (twins even!) for her. I was able to use the stretched out back so they would match by turning it the other direction. Don't really remember any thing eventful or dreadfully different about the actual quilting but I think we had to raise the foot thing up a bit.

I’ve quilted Monky without batting on baby quilts on my domestic and had no issues. But doing it this way is my only experience with Minky as a backing.

I have not used fireside on a quilt yet, however, I have used Minky on a few quilts on my longarm. SOS, selvage on the sides, load the backing so the selvage's are on the side. Be gentle when securing to the leaders so you are not stretching. Don’t overdo the taughtness when rolling the quilt.

I have quilted three large and two small quilts with Minky backing and 80/20 batting on my longarm with no problems at all. They turned out beautifully. Can’t speak to bamboo or cotton.
Good luck with yours.

I did 3 Christmas throws this year as gifts and used minky/fleece backing. I decided to use a low-loft poly batting, to reduce the weight. Came out fine.

I am new at longarming and followed a friend's advice: put sacrificial strips on your top and use it as the backing. We didn't use any batting and put the minky on the top. It felt weird but turned out great!
