I have a really good sewing machine. Its a viking daisy but I need a machine that has decorative stitches to do my quilting. What are your suggestions ? Thanks in advance for any input.

I'd try a janome QC machine. It has more stitches than you could ever use.

How hard are they to use?

Any upgraded Viking...I have the SE...but that's a combo sewing/quilting...Might try their Saphire

Most quilting is just straight stitches. That's one of the reasons people like the old Singers. They make a perfect straight stitch. What kind of decorative stitches are you wanting to do?

Are you going to put on a quilt frame or do free motion? If your not putting on a frame I would go for the Janome 6600P, awesome machine! great features. I don't know how deep the throat is though.

Was wanting to do free motion and steple

I don't think you need anything but a straight stitch to do free motion or stippling.

I would suggest the Bailey Home Quilter for the very basics. You can find them used fairly often when people decide to either give up quilting their own or move up to something bigger and fancier. |
