Quilting marks on quilts for sale
Yesterday while traveling from Michigan to Delaware we stopped for dinner at Penn alps, in Pa. It was part of a artiesen village. They had some beautiful quilts for sale, looked toe machine pieced and hand quilted. But at the price of 990.00 each I was bothered that the pencil marking for the hand quilting was very visible . It made me wonder how one hand quilting on white marks for the quilting pattern.

many quilters use pencil- chalk tends to brush off before the quilting is finished.
i've been using pencils for years- i've never had one not come out- when the quilt is laundered the pencil will wash away- there are a number of different marking tools on the market- some are----blue water erase markers, air erase markers, frixon markers (which disappear when ironed) chalk and a bunch of different pencils...those are just a few available- when quilting on white always test to make sure your choice will in fact wash out after the quilt is completed- |
I don't think I would pay that much for a quilt...pencil marks or not.
|
I would not be comfortable purchasing a quilt with pencil marks.
