have inherited many old linen and cotton table cloths - white ones that always must be ironed - with matching cloth napkins. Any suggestions for using them for a quilt?

Hello and welcome from Ontario. I know some have put them on foundation pieces and then pieced them into quilts. I have never done this but someone here will have more information on to do this.

No suggestions, but I love old linens and have a few myself! A few ladies here have made beautiful hankie quilts!

linen is wonderful to embroidery on and wears so very well, lasts forever, so an embroidered quilt would be beautiful!, mixing in other cottons is fine too. i have added silks and antique laces with linens (applique elements) and they are beautiful

why not applique them on a solid color fabric - place tablecloth on point if it's a square, then put napkins in each corner and let a long armer do her thing with fancy stitches? If background is dark and tablecloth light, you may need to put a while muslin between the two to retain the color of the tablecloth/napkins.

I'm glad to see you brought up this topic. I saved a bunch of embroidered linen napkins and tablecloths from my MIL's house when she died. They are too pretty to get rid of and I have been wondering what to do with them too.

I am interested in some ideas to use mine, too.
