Quilting Prices

Just wondering how much places charge for quilting? I have read that some people send theirs off, is that cheaper?

location matters
there is a broad range of quilting prices-
start with checking with your local quilt shop- ask who long-arm quilts- contact them and ask their charges- some charge by the square inch- some charge by the hour- some charge by the project- there are lots of variables.
also check the list of quilter's here on the board- see if there is someone on the list in your neck of the woods-
it is always nice to use a quilter who is local for you when possible- that way you can visit, see their work- establish a relationship.
some of us do take (long-distance) work- when choosing to send away for quilting- look at as many pictures of their quilting as possible- contact them and ask questions- it is possible to establish a good relationship with a long-distance quilter too- just make sure you know what kind of quilting they do- and you know what you are going to get- also remember when considering cost---if long distance you will have added shipping/insurance fees on top of the quilting charges.
