Do any of you that have embroidery machines quilt your squares by hooping them and doing embroidery in each square? I am getting a Topaz 30 tomorrow and it has the mega hoop so does the larger embroidery area. As this is an investment, I want to use this new (to me) machine to its full potential. Thanks for your input.

I've only embroidered blocks before they were assembled & put into the sandwich. I'm also curious as to the asnwer to your question as I can't picture getting the sandwich in the hoops to do machine embroidery. I have the Viking Rose

with that scenario, you would have to put sticky stabilizer in the hoop and pin the sandwich to it. even if you could get the sandwich in the hoop, the hoop would leave permanent marks in the fabric. i almost never put the top fabric in the hoop for that reason. i buy the sticky stabilizer in bulk.

And yes, I hoop and quilt my quilts and no there are no marks left on the quilt and I use the embroidery to quilt outline quilt motifs all the time. Here's just one of mine quilted via my embroidery machine. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-83293-7.htm#3855543
