Quilting resolutions....help, please!?!
Hello dear quilters...well, I am "Miss Inspiration" for our guild...charged with opening our meetings with something "inspirational." During the year I found many great moments to share...but here is another year and I need your help!? I'm thinking we need to have some resolutions and I'm hoping you can help me fashion some cute ideas?
The one I've thought of goes something like this: I resolve to always respond with a bright smile and a perky voice, "Oh look at that...my bobbin thread is out...and look, it's been out for almost this whole seam!" Sooooo...can you help!? Thank you!!! (this should be fun...) |
That’s funny!
I resolve to clear off my cutting table every night before bed. Even on days that end with “y”. |
Good ones, gals! I will keep following this post!

I resolve to cut my scraps for my scrap user system right after I cut a new project and before I start working on said project. (I actually started doing this and I am sooooo glad I did.)
|
I vow to clean up after each project. Of course this also was last year's resolution and when I finally cleaned for the holidays, it was like an archeological dig going thru all the layers of projects for that year ;-)

Oh, I lost my seam ripper. Now if I can only find the other 5 I have just in case this happens.
|
Oh look, the very tricky Y seam fits perfectly! To bad I used the wrong side of the fabric!
|
Charleen, I have no regrets at all. The criteria I use for scraps are not for large pieces of fabric that might be used in another quilt. I cut up scraps into the units that can be used in a scrap quilt. Very small pieces are put in a bag for crumb quilts. Hopefully this answers your question. Being more organized in this way saves lots of time that I can use planning and piecing new projects.

I Cannot stand that I have coupons for my favorite quilting store and I don'e really need anything at this moment, however I am going there anyway. I have a gift card also.
|
I resolve to gladly frog any seam as necessary. After all, it just means I get to do more sewing ... as soon as I get this beautifully sewn seam rip it, rip it out!

I have a question. When you cut down your scraps do you regret it because those pieces are not all in one place and are mixed in?

I have this little sign in my sewing room that says......"You know that feeling you get when all your UFO's are finished and your sewing room is all neat and tidy..........
Me neither |
I need to find a good home for my bags of scraps that I will never use. There was a lady in Florida that got the last batch for charity quilts for a hospital. But I had to erase that PM due to space. It would be worth the postage to send them to someone who could use them.

I got an email from Longarm University that said this: If you want 2018 to be your year;
Don’t sit on the couch and wait for it. Go out. Make a change. Smile more. Be excited. Do new things. Throw away what you’ve been cluttering. Un-follow negative people on social media. Go to bed early. Wake up early. Be fierce. Don’t gossip. Show more gratitude. Do things that challenge you. Be brave. I am sharing this with a group of sewers today...I have written it up on individual postcards (index cards) to hand out. |
Remember that quilting is a hobby and that "perfection is highly over-rated."

My resolution is to get back to quilting. I lost my courage to do it after a severe fall and can't seem to wrap my injured brain on how to do it. My resolution will be to sit there until it comes back to me. At least now I know how to thread the machine and begin sewing, I had lost even that.

This isn't my original, I found it on the Internet. "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are."
|
Not any really. I am still after 7 years trying to make as many donation quilts as possible. I have worked with my Daughter's scraps all last year and am continuing to do so.
I do hope to at some point to getting back to using my massive stash. I have used a lot for backings for the above quilts. |
I resolve to be able to walk through my sewing room at least once in awhile this year (without tripping over things) :)

Judy, sounds like you're in a healing stage...me, too. Eliminating the negatives in my life was a big help to me. Plus this year I reconnected with a favorite relative who was on her own journey and got a bit lost and distracted from our friendship. We're better now.
The last three years for me were horrific. I lost my dad, my sister, then my mom. How to bounce back? I quilt. I pray. I have eliminated all negatives from my life and have learned to take better care of me. I found it's okay to be just a little bit selfish. Happy and healthy New Year |
I sure do hope this year I won't get tempted to start anything new. I want 2018 to be remembered as the year I finished up all my UFO's.
