Quilting a "Row" Round Robin

Participated in a Row Round Robin which is now completed. Could use some input on how to quilt it by hand. Usually we start in the middle and work out from there.
but since each row is a separate scene can I just start with the middle row and work to each end and then progress to the row above, then the row below, etc.?

I'm not a hand quilter, but if the quilt is basted well before you start and you're not quilting densely I don't see why there would be any problem. With a longarm we typically work across the quilt starting at the top.

I will be watching to see what suggestions you get. I have a Row Robin too that is on my list of UFO's to be finished. Did you sash between your rows? I am planning to do that with mine.

Yes, scrapping faye58, there is sashing between each row. I LOVED doing the Row Robin but they don't seem to be very popular. Maybe I was just lucky because we all tried our best to follow the theme and color choices of each other and everyone was on time with their mailings. I'm toying with doing utility stitching not only because it's quicker but I just kind of think it would fit well with the whimsical theme.

I was in a bee that did a row robin, because it was less intimidating than a round robin. There were 9 of us and we all loved it. I agree with Dunster -- as long as you've basted the quilt well, it shouldn't matter where you start quilting it.

Are safety pins as effective as needle and thread basting for this type quilt?

I hand quilt. For me the best way is to start in the middle and work to each end. It seems to smooth the fabric as you go and it lays flat at the end. Hand quilting is very relaxing forme.
