Quilting Ruler broken...any ideas???
I am looking for any help you can offer. I have a plastic ruler 22 X 6 that is in two pieces.
Is there anyway I can glue this and keep using? If so what kind of glue should I use. I like this ruler, waited several weeks for it to arrive in the mail, and when I unwrapped it,,,,,there it was in two pieces!! The woman I bought it from just said keep it, and refunded my money....I want to use the ruler!! |
Why don't you look on Ebay for a replacement. I have purchased great buys in rulers on Ebay, also SewItsForSale, a Yahoo forum. sorry to say, glue does not work on these rulers. You can try, but I have never had any luck.

Chances are that if you glue it together your measurements will not be accurate.

I would try super glue what have you get to lose?
|
I have heard packaging tape works well, but haven't tried it
|
Depending on the brand of ruler, the manufacturer may replace it.

Just my ideal. Maybe somehow, super glue the edge, and hold in place. Or lay it flat, and hold it in place. Then take and buy the 2'' wide clear tape. And tape over the crack/broken spot
|
The good news: Super Glue works perfectly on acrylic, bonds in seconds and never comes apart.
The bad news: Super Glue bonds on acrylic looks terrible, your measurements may very well be inaccurate, and your edges may have jigs in them. |
I have a broken ruler that I wrapped with clear packaging tape. Still works great! (And I actually wrapped the whole ruler in the packaging tape because the painted numbers and marking were wearing off. It's my favorite ruler and I can't find another one in the same size. 4" x 16" )

I used packing tape on the back of ruler to fix a crack. It's still holding great and it's been years. Be sure and wipe the ruler with alcohol first.
