I know that you should use the same rule when you cut fabric for quilts. There are so many brands out there. Do you have one brand you stick to or one brand that you keep coming back to. If so what brand is it and why do you like it.

I don't have one brand, but I do try my best to use the same one for an entire quilt.

I use creative grid. It has builtin non-slip dots. I love them.

I use OmniGrip. Love them! They have lots of different sizes too.

The same for me too!

I have a few different brands, but I find I like the EZ Quilt ones the best. They have a great variety and they are readily available at Walmart for a decent price. I use the EZ Angle, the Tri-Recs, EZ Rule Junior and couple others I can't think of right off. They don't have lot of extra marking to confuse my aging eyes (and brain LOL). I use Invisigrip on the backs of all my rulers. Here's a link to the website with all their products. It also has tutorials and free patterns. Hope you find a brand you like! http://simplicity.com/c-374-rulers-templates.aspx

I have several different ones.
I use the one that I can see the markings the best.
one has yellow and one orange and one black markings
depends on the fabric color, what ever I can see the best.

I have several but like the EZ Quilt ones.

I use Omnigrid. I bought another brand once and the measurements were not the same as my omni rulers. I think it's best to stick with the same brand throughout whatever it may be. :)

It really 'shouldn't' matter - but it does and that's wrong.

An inch should be the same from one ruler to the next.
A pound should be a pound on any scale...right?

Yes.

I use all Omnigrid rulers with Invisigrip on the back of them.

Oh gosh.... there's something I never thought of. Gee, I learn something new with each post I read.

Creative grids. I like the non-slip dots and fine line markings. I find that the lines are too blurry on omnigrid rulers for me. Calibration between different rulers can be important. I have found that if I want really precise measurments I purchase more expensive rulers. This is one of those things that it pays to buy well. My favorite rulers are my metal ones I use in the lab but those are metric.

Me too!

I have switched all mine out for Creative Grid. I like the thin lines and easy to read. They have built in grips. They come in all different sizes.

I like Creative Grid also, especially the 8 1/2 x 24 1/2. Seems like all my squares are 6 1/2 or 12 1/2. It's hard to measure those with a 6 x 12!
