Has anyone bought quilting software that would allow you to make the blocks (your own) and color them in the software, so you could see what the final quilt would be? And do you like it? Or what stinks about it?

Hi Merridancer, and welcome!

In the menu at the top, use the "Search" button and check out the discussions on EQ (Electric Quilt). Current version is 6, they're upgrading to 7 (new version ships in June). Lots of us here using it and loving it.

Cheers!
Linda

I have Quilt Pro version 5--current version. It is available for PC or Mac. http://www.quiltpro.com

I use it often to audition colors before cutting fabric, figuring yardage once I decide on colors, and to see the secondary patterns created by some blocks.

I love EQ6. It's worth every penny I paid for it.

I have both Quilt Pro version 5 and EQ version 6. Each has it's own merits. I went to EQ because so many people told me it was superior. I think EQ has better tutorials and support. I find more "bugs" in Quilt Pro (screens freezing and program crashes)
There are some things I like better in Quilt Pro. I write instructions for quilting classes and Quilt pro allows me to rotate individual pieces within a block better than EQ.
Both are fantastic though
