The Quilters Dream Green batting is made from recycled plastic water bottles which are a real environmental problem. It is really soft and washes up great. Just don't use it on quilts with lots of white because the batting has a light green color.

Horrors!!!! My trash service does NOT offer the service (that tells me something) and I am not going to spend my time and transportation sorting and dropping off at the recycle bins. I do take my plastic shopping bags to Walmart for recylcing. They make it easy and I go there weekly. My car gets 24.7 per gallon. Not interested in electric cars; i drive too many miles and dont have time for charging the batteries. Like the concept but it s not there yet. Gotta make it easy to do.

amen to that. I was raised to be frugal and still waste little. I save scraps and make them into yet another quilt but will not scour thrift shops and yard sales for clothes to cut up. I do not stress over my my so-called "foot print".

I have been known to pick up quilting stuff at the thrift stores. I like to buy orphan sheets to use for backing or piecing. The clothes are usually too expensive to deal with. As for yard sales...that's a whole, "nuther," hobby. Before we moved, the DH and I would fill up our coffee mugs and head out on Saturday mornings, combing the neighborhoods. We've found some amazing things over the years. Now, we live in an area that's very spread out and mountainous, so there aren't many yard sales...bummer.

So, is this similar to a poly batting?
