Quilting Thread Colors

1 Attachment(s)
I got the top all laid out for my Dr. Seuss quilt!!! Really hoping I can get it all sewn together between tonight and tomorrow and can start the quilting by next weekend :D

I was gonna wait to quilt this until the threads from Connecting Threads came back in stock, but I don't really wanna have to wait a month to finish this. I can run to Joann's tomorrow to pickup thread as I don't own any actual quilting thread.

What color should I use? I'm planning on doing just straight stitching along the major seams as I don't have an FMQ foot yet for my machine.

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

I would probably use red thread. What is the backing fabric? Usually I try to use something that will blend with the backing.

When in doubt I always go with grey.

I'd do red or black

I always struggle with thread color too on quilts like these that have such varied colors. I tend to pick ones that will blend in as much as possible and match the backing fabric. For this one I would probably use off white or light gray if the backing is light.

The binding is red and the backing is black. I was thinking I could use black in the bobbin and then a different color in the top.

I made a How The Grinch Stole Christmas quilt and I used a red, white and green variegated thread. If that was my quilt, I would use a red, white & blue variegated thread or a red/white, red/blue or blue/white thread

Do you know of a good place to get variegated thread from? I've never seen it :(

JoAnn's may have some variegated threads. They usually carry some Sulky, or Star threads. Check those.
