Quilting thread in Janome machines
I've just been talking to my local Janome dealer re the problems I'm having with thread sticking in the tension discs (always been an issue with my machine). He said a lot of customers have this problem because of using quilting threads (and I'm talking machine quilting threads, just to be clear) in Janomes. I've certainly never been able to get King Tut or YLI machine quilting thread to go through the discs on my machine. His implication was that you shouldn't use these threads - I would have thought a high-end machine marketed as being suitable for quilting should be able to deal with them. So - Janome owners - can you use machine quilting threads on your machine? This is an important question for me at the moment as, given my 4800's latest difficulties, I'm thinking very seriously of trading up, but I must be sure that a 6600 or 7700 wouldn't have the same issues.

That`s a shame you can`t use them. How old is your machine?
I have the memory craft 110000 and use king tut and now quilting with the sulky metalic with no problem. Gale |
I have a Janome 6500 and have never had a problem with any type of thread. I use Aurifil, YLI, Connecting Threads, Coats, etc.

I have the 6600 and 11000. I can't use King Tut with the 6600 but have used it with the 11000. I generally use Auriful (not sure I spelled that correctly). If I'm sewing clothing, then Gutermann thread. There are many high quality threads available. I would still buy the Janome machine if you like it and just find the thread that works best for you.

I have a Janome 3160 and 10001 and have had no problems with any type of thread I have used. And I have used a large variety.

My Janome 3050 is picky. She does not like Coasts and Clark, prefers Gutterman and Madeira.
|
I use all kinds of thread but don't use the Coats and Clark as it is so linty.
|
I use everything but Coats and Clark in my Janome, especially like connecting threads thread

I have used King Tut in my 6600 without any problems. I've also used Mettler, Aurifil, Prescencia and Wonderfil in my 6600 without problems.

I use everything but Coats and Clark in my 6600P and have never had a problem.
