Quilting Thread

Am I nuts for using polyester serger thread on my long arm machine? It really works the best. No skipping or breaking threads or loops on the bottom.

I dunno... I tried it once, when I was just starting to quilt, and I found it was very prone to breakage, to the point of driving me insane. But whatever works for you, I guess....

Use whatever works best. Wish mine liked the cheaper stuff. I bought the $1/cone poly thread at JoAnn and hoped it would work, but it breaks! "Rachel" loves King Tut and Bottom Line! I wait for it to go on sale!

I anyone using the Essential Pro from Connecting Threads successfully? I bought one spool, but haven't tried it yet. The price is right, so I hope it works. LA's are like people....picky!

Depends on what look you are going for. Is Serger thread 2 ply or 3 ply?

No. That's what I use all the time. I think why it works, is because like a serger, the long arms run at a greater speed than our sewing machines.

I have used Essential Pro successfully, and I use a lot of the Metro embroidery thread.

Do you use the Metro embroidery thread to do the actual quilting?
If so, that's very intersting to me. I have tons of this thread in all colors!
Does it tend to break? What are you using in the bobbin?

I have a friend that uses it all of the time.. She has an HQ16.
