Quilting a tshirt quilt
 

I am ready to quilt a couple of tshirt quilts. I have never made a tshirt quilt before so I am wondering if there are any do' and don't do's for the quilting.

I am only going to straight line quilting - especially on this first one. How do you deal with the logos on the shirts? I am tempted just to straight line quilt right through them, some of them are fairly large. Is that a big no-no?

I have tried to fmq on a tshirt quilt, but not with any success. It seemed that the thread was always breaking. But never any problems when I did simple straight stitching with a walking foot, even across the logos. Some logos are pretty big, so they do need some stitching across them to secure the batting. If you use a neutral color thread, it doesn't hardly show, becoming mostly invisible from a short distance.

I usually just meander...and I don't worry about logos unless they have very heavy plastic on it. The result is very appealing to me and my clients. In my opinion the star of the quilts are the shirts and the logos.

I wouldn't sew thru the design on t-shirts. Sometime that "paint" is very thick. Stitch around it.

Thank you for everyone's thoughts. I put on a new needle and some grey thread and quilted across the logos. I felt like some of them were too big to skip over. I didn't have any problems. The thread is barely noticeable. Thanks again!
